Every May, as part of the National Pike Festival, a wagon train can be seen traveling along U.S. Route 40. Those who hitch up their horses and participate in the event begin in Boonsboro and journey several hundred miles, stopping to camp along the way. This will be the 38th year that the wagon train has made this journey as part of the festival. The experience is meant to invoke nostalgia for a time past, though the lush green landscape of western Maryland might be reason enough for many to join in. The photo was taken this morning by Lisa Broadwater near Grantsville.
