The ribbon-cutting ceremony and grand opening of the new transportation museum of the Garrett County Historical Society in downtown Oakland has been scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24.
The museum was constructed with funds donated by the Howard and Audrey Naylor Family Trust, with additional monies for sidewalks and landscaping coming from state grants obtained through the town of Oakland.
According to Robert Boal, society president, while the official opening of the museum is set for Sept. 24, a "soft opening" will begin on Monday, Sept. 19, with the public invited to visit the museum between the hours of 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
