The Peabody Ragtime Ensemble of Baltimore will present "An evening of Ragtime, Dixieland, and All That Jazz!" in the Garrett College auditorium this Saturday, June 25, at 7:30 p.m. The concert is being sponsored by the Garrett Lakes Arts Festival (GLAF). The Ensemble, an acoustic "little big band," preserves the roots of American jazz through performance of vintage repertoire in concert, dance, and stage settings. "For more than 30 years, Peabody Ragtime Ensemble has been filling concert halls and bringing audiences to their feet with their infectious brand of delightfully diverse repertoire," stated one critic. The Washington Post said that they "blew up a hurricane" with their "lively and polished program that covered the spectrum...." Tickets are $25 for adults, $7 for students, and admission is free for youth age 5 and younger, though a ticket is required. For reservations, persons are invited to telephone the GLAF office at 301-387-3082 or go to its web site at: www.artsandentertainment.org. GLAF is partially supported by grants from the Garrett County Arts Council, the Maryland State Arts Council, Pennsylvania Performing Arts on Tour, the William Penn Foundation, the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, and the Pew Charitable Trust.
