A parade and commemorative service will be held to honor veterans of all military branches on Veterans Day, Nov. 11, in downtown Oakland. The parade is set for 10 a.m., with groups to gather at the Oakland Train Station proceed to Second, Alder, and Third streets, ending at Veterans Park at the corner of Oak and Third. A ceremony will be held at 11 a.m. at the park with guest speaker Paul Johnson, VFW District 3 commander. The Southern Garrett Marching Band will provide music for the event.
